mk-motion - Motion Detection Software

mk-motion Motion Detection Software of mk-messtechnik GmbH

Video-based test specimen monitoring for EMC immunity tests. Automatically detects, documents, and correlates visual deviations – ensuring your test engineer doesn't miss a thing, even in hour six.

Compatible to mk-messtechnik EMC cameras

Direct PTZ control with memory positions, joystick connectivity, and hardware trigger button on the control panel. Also compatible with HDMI, RTSP, IP cameras, and USB cameras from other manufacturers.

mk-motion works with four data types.  Video data,  Numerical signals,  Triggers & Integration and  Text

Visual monitoring / Stream handling

Up to four 1080p Full HD video streams are captured and recorded simultaneously. The test engineer no longer needs to switch between cameras, but always has everything in view. With the mk-messtechnik dAV quad hardware merger, up to 16 camera images at 540p are even possible. With up to 30x optical zoom from the mk cameras, this enables high-resolution detailed images of spatially widely distributed elements (for example, in the case of automotive exterior lighting) and thus complete monitoring of the test specimen, even with very large specimens.

All channels are available as a network stream via RTSP, allowing colleagues at the workstation, in another chamber, or on the other side of the world to view the live feed without having to be at the test station. And if a different perspective is needed for the next test specimen, the camera moves to the saved position via PTZ memory – reducing changeover time to the bare essentials.

Image Processing

Every device under test is different – a combination instrument with an animated needle has different monitoring requirements than an industrial controller with a 7-segment display or a medical device with an ECG waveform. Therefore, the engineer builds a custom processing pipeline for each image area from the modules they need.

The live preview shows in real time what each stage does – no more guesswork when parameterizing. For standard tasks, mk-motion provides pre-configured templates that can be adapted in minutes. For complex devices under test, the combiner combines the results of multiple image areas into an overall assessment: alarms are triggered only when two or more conditions are met simultaneously, and false alarms are suppressed when a specific condition is active. The result is monitoring tailored to the specific device under test – not a generic motion detector, but a targeted evaluation of what is relevant for this test.

Connectivity

mk-motion operates not only in isolation but also as part of existing test infrastructure. The EMC test software sends frequency, level, and modulation, or any other parameters – mk-motion automatically assigns each anomaly to the exact test condition and returns extracted values and alarms to the software. The test software triggers a recording – mk-motion delivers the clip with a pre-buffer.

A change in operating state is signaled by your test software – mk-motion activates the corresponding ROI and pipeline configuration. With the "Extended Logging" license, mk-motion can log the detected parameters for later, separate analysis. The interface is open and documented – mk-motion adapts to the lab infrastructure, not the other way around.
